Features of KakaoTalk as a messaging app :

KakaoTalk, a simple messaging app, is similar to Messenger but has the added benefit of synchronising communications with both our computer and our mobile devices (Android, iOS). This application provides us with more options than most messaging clients.

  1. Your discussions are secure. If you share your computer with others, the Lock mode comes in handy.
  2. You can sign out even if your computer is not connected. If you leave your session unfinished, you can log out remotely.
  3. Organize your chats using a spreadsheet.
  4. Change the transparency of the chat window to speak more quietly.

Developers can now access KakaoTalk’s platform API. Currently, the development stack supports iOS, Android, REST, and Javascript. An API for user administration and a push-based API are already available, and an analytic API is on the way. While users could previously perform an ADB backup of the.db file to back up the application’s data, Kakao has disabled this feature as of app version 4.2.3. While it was still possible to downgrade the app to a previous version in order to perform the ADB backup, this feature has been disabled as of Android 7.0 Nougat. As a result, there is currently no way for Android users to completely backup and transfer the application’s data without rooting the device.
